JJ Bernardo começa a sua carreira como dj no princípio dos anos 90 em disco-bares. Depois de passar por clubes como "El Sol" e "La Comedia" chega ao "Siroco" em Abril de 1996. Debaixo do pseudónimo PFM (Playin' For Money) fica residente e programador das actividades nocturnas da sala.

Inaugura a sessão do SIMO 96, e passeia o seu talento pelos ARTFUTURA e FESTIMAD de 98.
Depois de uma pausa forçada em 99 passa longa temporada em Ibiza (tocando como residente para clubes como o "Naif", "El Templo", "Sunset Café" ou "El Grial") volta em 2001 para dirigir em parceria com Gudlak o clube "Siroco", enquanto muda o seu nome artístico para o actual. Nesse mesmo ano entra para o staff do restaurante "GulaGula" como programador.

Actuou em festivais como o SONAR, FESTIMAD (onde lhe é atribuído o prémio de melhor dj espanhol), EVANTEC ou NEOSFESTIVAL em Huesca, e em toda a classe de raves, clubes e bares de Madrid e Espanha. Na sala "Siroco" partilhou a cabine com nomes como Elite Force, Krafty Kuts, Soul Of Man, Dee-Lite, Louie Austen entre muitos outros…

Criador da série "GulaGula Sessions": Vol.1 (Dro-Warner), Vol.2 (PIAS) e Vol.3 (Dro-Warner); no momento o seu estilo viaja pelo house, electro e breakbeat.

Vem actuar ao Plastic depois de uma mini-digressão de Verão por Ibiza e Tenerife antes da inauguração de mais uma temporada do melhor clube madrileno."

"Depois da abertura das inscrições dos workshops no espaço Maus Hábitos (ainda há vagas para um segundo workshop neste espaço...), abrem agora as vagas para os workshops na escola Restart - Parque das Nações.
Decorrem a 4 e 5 de MARÇO (sábado e domingo), e vão das 10 às 19h (com uma hora de almoço pelo meio). O workshop baseia-se no Reason 3.0 dos Proppellerheads (incluindo também o Recycle), e tem como público alvo
qualquer pessoa que se interesse por fazer música em software, sem ter que possuir conhecimentos informáticos relevantes. House, Electro, Techno, Drum n'Bass, Hip-hop... Qualquer que seja o estilo preferido, no fim do workshop o aluno será capaz de construir a sua própria faixa, gravá-la em cd e tocá-la em qualquer sistema de som.

A metodologia do curso baseia-se em demonstrações ao vivo de todos os passos que levam à execução de uma faixa (construção de ritmos, linhas de baixos, frases, introdução de samples, equalização, masterização),
sendo que cada passo é seguido de um exercício que consolidará conhecimentos adquiridos.

O programa é semelhante ao realizado nos workshops dos Maus Hábitos, sendo que a diferença principal se centra na utilização mais intensa de teclados midi, e assim no aspecto da automatização de parâmetros e
composição. A escola disponibiliza os seus computadores, com a versão completa do Reason instalada (não é, portanto, necessário levar um pc
ou mac portátil).

Not really breaks-related but worth a note since it was a VERY nice surprise on 27th of November to find Ollie Teeba (Ninja Tunes) from the Herbaliser crew playing and scratching finest funky tunes in a small bar called "pop up bar" in Lisbon (Portugal).

This guy knows how to select and mix funky stuff, believe you me! There was also some hip hop involved however I am not really qualified to state any comments on that.

If you ever come across a set of this guy, beg him to play his insane scratch-version of "Apache"..!

Hmmm..! With this tune you're on the safe side when it comes to heat up the dancefloor a bit. It's not something I would listen to at home but it sure makes one's body move out there in the club!

Since I'm not a big fan of describing basslines, samples, breakdowns and all that other stuff I highly recommend to go to the shop, listen to it and buy it. Or not. I would - but I have it already...

The flipside "Jack (So Ride Me)" is from the same league. Not a tune I would have with a cup of tea, but a nice tool to use when DJ-ing. Try it yourself!

I received a new promo from Resin Records (UK) lately and I think it's worth a post. This tune is for those who love breaks with tasty ragga toasts. One might be remembered to an African style called "Kodouro".

Here is what Resin Records says:

MT had his resin debut last year with a broken beat remix of TAISHAN’s ‘The Shake Off’. Hailing from São Paulo, MT is spearheading the breaks invasion of Brazil.
